    Strawbridge or Strawbridge & Clothier, was a department store in the founded in 1868, with stores in PA. In its day, the downtown Philadelphia flagship store added branch stores  enjoyed annual sales of over a billion dollars by the 1980s.  It became part of May Stores until that company's August 30, 2005, acquisition by Macy's Inc. It shut its doors on May 23, 2006.
